Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
A
Knowledge Transfer Partnership allows businesses to benefit from the expertise of the University, and graduates to gain from early responsibility, mentored experience and training.
At the Smart Systems Centre we have a decade of experience in KTP through writing successful proposals, managing and supervising projects.
For Universities we can work as a partner with you to raise programme numbers and establish KTP as a valuable stream of revenue, making a significant contribution to third stream income targets.
For Companies we can advise you on how KTP can help you and work with a university to achieve your objectives.
What is KTP?
A Knowledge Transfer Partnership is formed between a company, a University and one or more recent graduates.
- The graduate (termed a KTP 'Associate'), works in the company on a project of strategic importance to the business.
- The university provides technical input to the project, mentoring for the Associate, and access to specialist University labs and facilities.
- A Knowledge Transfer Partnership can attract grant funding of up to 60%.
Each partner gains from the Partnership:-
- The company improves its business position through successful completion of the project.
- The University benefits from interacting with industry, e.g. by keeping its courses relevant, and providing an opportunity to apply research skills to a practical situation.
- The associate gains from experience, early responsibility for an important project, and the opportunity to gain further qualifications.
